We Adore Top Drawer

We kicked off 2018 in style on Sunday with our first trade show of the new year. Now, one thing you should know is that I freaking LOVE a trade show! With a fashion buying background, trade shows to me always signify the start of a fresh new season, lots of amazing new products, potentially some awesome new suppliers, and LOTS of lovely things to get excited about!

Top Drawer is hosted at Olympia in London, a beautiful Victorian building complete with ornate barrel-vaulted roof, its absolutely stunning, and the perfect venue to hold what feels like the freshest of all the big trade shows. With a creative focus, Top Drawer features over 1500 brands across homeware, gifts, fashion and craft, with a design-led focus and an emphasis on supporting smaller/new/independent businesses, its the perfect show for us and reflects what we're all about.

So a little bleary eyed and coffee in hand (of course!), I caught the 8am train on a dark, Sunday morning and headed down to see what was on offer.

Before I even made it to the show however I stumbled across a heavenly shop in St Pancras, Kikki K. Customers have been telling me about this amazing stationery shop so I was thrilled to discover it is even more beautiful than I imagined!! Oodles of gorgeous stationery, with lots of pastels & rose gold, it is RIGHT up our street. I couldn't leave without buying something, so a shiny new notepad, cute pen, and awesome gold 'J' badge to accessorize my Imperfectionista planner (an essential purchase I'm sure you'll agree) were all in-hand and I was already excited about the rest of the day ahead.

One of the first stands that really caught our eye was Bloomingville, having followed them for ages on Insta, I didn't actually realise they were a supplier!! *Hangs head in shame* So super excited to find this information out I signed up sharpish, and will hopefully have my account all set up with them soon ready to bring some AWESOME new Scandi designs to our shop, buzzing.

We visited Ohh Deer to see the latest range of stationery and cards from them (they're plywood shed stand looked AWESOME by the way), and bumped into the lovely Cat from Twin Pines, who was so excited to be seeing her range of cards now being sold through Ohh Deer! We were thrilled for her, as a fellow (and local) one-woman band to see her hit success like this is amazing! So chuffed for her. (http://www.twinpinescreative.com/)

Other secret new finds we were super excited about included This Mama Does, her seriously funny range of cards and milestone cards are PERFECT for our shop, so they'll be top of my list to follow up with this week, you're going to love them!

Plus a beautiful little wallpaper company nestled in the 'Spotted' section (area for new and emerging talent), this is something we were toying with last year so to find someone making exactly what we were looking for is totally rad. Watch this space for lots of new goodies...

The main colour trends of the show were deeper pastel shades and dark moody shades; green is still massive and fits in perfectly with the botanical trend which is still going strong for Spring/Summer '18, with lots of metallic (gold, and rose gold) highlights.

So all-in-all we were pretty chuffed, lots of cool new things from some of our current suppliers (including the ever awesome Old English Co & their beautiful new baby girl), and lots of potential new suppliers with some awesome new products ready to hit LLS, yeeesssss! Importantly we also discovered pistachio croissants are a thing, and are DELICIOUS, you heard it here first folks.

'Til next time!

Jodie - Croissant Queen xx
